The Past
This time the breakfast was to 07:00 Clock. Slightly less up early and take a shower. Then breakfast, Briefing, pack remaining belongings and leave in the lobby and off we went already.
The last leg of our tour was to lead us to the monastery Neustift near Brixen and later back to Safety Park in Bolzano.
But before the Jaufenpass wanted to be electrically defeated. At the same time, this was still the special stage. This time we did not want to be too slow, and since we anyway had no chance in any good placement, I decided to Peugeot times to test properly tight, to throw everything they have learned about the E-Car Driving on board.
The iOn has a very good-natured temperament and the initial fear of tipping over more with the more and more the confidence of the very good-natured understeer chassis design. So I beat up the Peugeot, what the battery so to juice aufliefen in front of us started Ampera, the driver got a fright and began to use and getting past was thus impossible or dangerous to the power increase of the Amperas. Soon we pushed the Ampera before us, until we aufliefen on the next Ampera, drove immediately faster again. To be overtaken by a dinky Peugeot, that went sometimes not for a Ampera. Suddenly a wall of mist appeared in front of us. Visibility up to 15m. It paid off, to have 'went out as much time credits, because our speed dropped almost to walking pace. We even talked about almost 2 min an, because we were still too fast.
Since we wanted to turn on no heating, It was disgusting cold on the way to the pass. Again and again steamed up the windows and we had to turn on the ventilation, which of course brought more cold into the vehicle. The heating did not come but, we wanted to save energy. This time, however, we were (finally!) much too fast in testing. Had we waited a little longer, we would… but, would, would. It was extremely fun with Combustion engine to hunt the iOn like a normal car up to the pass. At the top, blinking the battery icon already in panic, the remaining range indicator was still at 5 km. From 4 km is the iOn in a creep, is to allow a, to seek a safe stop. But then did not bother us. The battery was indeed in two of 16 Down bar, but from now on it was all downhill. The monastery Neustift again we had recuperated two beams and around 28 km remaining range on the clock. This is the practical of electric vehicles with good control; it would be in an internal combustion engine so, as the tank would fill itself with a few liters of fuel after a long downhill. But you should generally do not heat up the hill, even if the high-torque electric motor encourages them. For this you will save down the mountain a lot of energy and this can even recover and pump back into the batteries. The last 10km bugged me the fogged rear window so so, I generously turned on the rear window defogger. I wanted to test, to what extent this affects the range. In our case, not noticeable for the last 10km!
In Neustift Monastery ((http://www.kloster-neustift.it/de/orden-kloster.html)) arrived, waiting on the forecourt of the charging stations for the cars. In the middle there was a fountain, the ground floor was let into the ground and I was very tempted with the Peugeot to go about it, to test the water compatibility. As the eyes of the Peugeot people were getting bigger and the mouths folded down, I let go of my projects still indicated from umkurvte and the jet of water but still quite scarce.
In Neustift Monastery awaited us a two-part guide.
The first part took us through the winery, the other Weinberge, in the winery and the wine cellar. The second part went through the monastery itself, his library with hundreds of years of old books and through the chapel and the cloister. You could tell the riders to formally, that it was the last day. Everyone was super relaxed and suddenly had a lot of time. Gone was the hustle and bustle and stress of the tour. Lunch consisted of a plate of local specialties, mainly sausage, Ham and cheese. For dessert there were two pieces of cake. A piece of buckwheat with Preiselbeermarmeladenfüllung and a Sachertortenstückchen. Everything as always very delicious. But the dessert fit only just so pure.
The last part of the tour then went back Matthias. It could have been a relaxed gliding through the streets, but most were hoping for more points for the energy rating and crept slowly on the highway, that it bordered on public roads almost to coercion. For the reason we were almost the first, die im Safety Park ankamen, because overtake with electric cars is fun. Pedal on the metal and you're hisses at the other (and tractors, who came from the apple harvest) past.
In Safety Park awaited us a little Arrive celebration. From the promised round the park but was unfortunately nothing, it was to drive a small bow to the final shutdown of the vehicles. There was a welcome sparkling wine served on a silver platter, another group photo and then it was time, to go to the last hotel.
The arrival at the hotel was rather sobering. Four Points? What four points? It was a business hotel at the Messe Bozen. Expensive Room, but little quality for the price. That the use of the Internet connection was now to pay extra acts in a modern business hotel like an anachronism. Or an intentional source of income thanks to the online-based business guests. (WiFi only in the lobby and for 5 EUR on the day. Ethernet port on the hotel room? 7,70 EUR on the day). This is just a note, because to complain, would be a whining on Ortler-level!
For the elevator came straight from hell. We were in the 6. Floor and were sometimes up to 5 wait min, until we were finally able to enter. On the top floor there was a spa area, course fee and 1. Floor of the conference rooms.
I drove quickly to the Hotel Laurin back, to pick up my notebook, because this backpack I did not want with the normal, can transport something more rustic luggage service.
Then we went to get changed and the bus to the Messner Mountain Museum Firmian at Castle Sigmundskron. ((http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schloss_Sigmundskron)) The castle was only for us outside the opening times of the gates and welcomed us back a wonderfully appropriate live music. At the end of the tour awaited us five courses, partially distributed over the castle. Therefore, we made a little night walk with intermediate stations.
After the walk, the actual main menu followed in the local restaurant. They showed us some pictures of the tour and a movie, which was filmed during the tour. Following this came the dessert and it came to the awards ceremony. The winning couple was absolutely surprised and could not quite believe it himself probably. When reading of the winning gift we were quite happy the way, did not win. What we want two together four days in a spa hotel? 😉 Ernüchternd stellten wir fest, dasss it would have been virtually impossible for us after this discharge mode, to land on the top places. But we had way too much fun and ended up in the middle.
Here again the menu, because it was just so very lovingly composed and suitable for all tours!

1) APPETIZER: Lamb ham with mushrooms and arugula Erdäpflblattl on sauerkraut, to Kerner 2011 . Rielingerhof
Passend zur Route “The Past”: It is like a journey through the turbulent history of South Tyrol. For hundreds of years the Neustift monastery dedicated to the wine. The flagship in the northernmost growing region of Italy is the grape variety Kerner. Fresh, rassig, en vogue.
2) COLD STARTERS: Rote-Bete-Salat mit roh mariniertem Forellenfilet, Radon daze Müller 2011. Radoar Hof
Passen zur Route “King Ortler”, which plays with light and sun. Barren sunny slopes contrasting with lush green valley floors and white glacier peaks. Müller Thurgau developed from cool nights and hot days, an ideal ratio of acidity and fruit.
3) WARM STARTERS: Polenta dumplings with rabbits and white grape, to Gewürtstraminer 2010. Winery Lentsch
Passend zur Route “The Wine Route”, which is a colorful journey through the south of South Tyrol. The Gewürtstraminer, is there home, is a strong character dining companion with golden highlights and memorable flavors.
4) MAIN COURSE: Rindsschulternahtl in Lagreinsauce with potato dumplings and braised potatoes, Dazu Lagrein 2009. Glassierhof
Passend zur Route “Sellaronda”: The Dolomites are lit at dusk, a ruby-red tender, which also carries the Lagrein in itself. This evening glow of the pale mountains called in Ladin “Enrosadira”
5) DESSERT: Mousse of Sarner-flops chocolate, to Rosenmuskateller 2012. Ansitz Waldgries
Passend zur Route “The Fabled”. On this route there are stories and memories of a distant time. The Moscato Rosa is rare and a good companion for an evening overlooking the rose garden.
Subsequently it went back to the hotel tired and we fell into our beds.
