Transfer of vehicles to Bolzano, the first tour
Sunday, 23.09.2012/79,4 km
Bozen/Safety Park (Getting to know the vehicles and ca. 120 On. Fahrtraining)
Bolzano - Nova Levante - Carezza - Tires - Bolzano
After all lighting emmi animal diodes was banned in the room the lights in the evening, and we're not too late came to bed, hit us the alarm sound like a strong blow to the neck with a freshly caught big cold fish.
Getting up, Shower, Tightening and stagger for breakfast was in zombie mode.
After the first units were elicited by deliciously fragrant coffee, the spirits back from the dark corners of my head, I was able to leave the breakfast room act with his time-honored architecture enjoyable to me:
An estimated 6m high room with a buffet, that take your breath away. Freshly squeezed orange juice, Obstsäfte, Water, Müsli Cornflakes, Sausage, Cheese, Ham, Breads and pastas in all imaginable variations. Even the croissants were in four different variations:
- with jam
- mit Nougat
- with marzipan
- without filling.
Half an hour later also appeared on Matthias, and made our team complete. There was still some time to talk and to 07:30 We were taken by bus to the Safety Park. Once there, they told us in groups on. A portion was allowed to leave first staked a circular course, with slight, but also sharp curves and a small waterhole.
Each participant was allowed to drive on the circuit a round with each vehicle, the vehicles with their special properties to get to know. Already at the site showed, which vehicle would make the next day a lot of fun.
The second part of the Safety Park for us was, to be able to move the vehicles on the kart track. The kart track has to move to a better grip and we practiced the curves properly. Everyone was allowed to drive two laps per car, where I recall there were too few Leafs and therefore had to take a group twice a iOn.
We did not let us take it right with all vehicles to have a blast. So test out acceleration and cornering performance. It turned out, that this knowledge could be important even in the later tour.
All vehicles in common was the very spontaneous start-up and perfect without the familiar sounds of a roaring engine.
My first superficial and very subjective judgments proved to be very:
- eSmart: Typical smart and very mature, processed very valuable, accelerated violently.
- Peugeot iOn: Very narrow hare crate-like car, but with 4 Doors, nevertheless foolproof and driving behavior.
- Nissan Leaf: Very complete impression, seems stable, heavier than the iOn and is well made.
- Ampera: Komplettes Car, everything as usual, but also very strong in the beginning. The only hybrid, but was only driven by the electric motor.
At the end of the first contact, the transfer of the vehicles expected to Bolzano on Walther Square before. While we drove off in convoy, but we have been separated quite early by intersections and traffic lights. The extremely accurate roadbook paid off for the first time. One can not mention often enough, that all navigation devices ( to each car were settled for safety ) defiance, was irreplaceable and a great idea to!
Arriving at the Piazza Walther, We were amazed, SMG was the ((South Tyrolean Makretinggesellschaft)) had everything organized with the ADAC since: The complete site was cordoned off and in the middle of a giant cube was placed. On each side of the cube there was per manufacturers 6 Parking with each 6 Chargers. After reverse parking every car got a sign in front of it with the technical data, thus were able to find random passers vorbeischlendernde.
Since the charging for 3 Hours was planned, the time was put to good use with a briefing and a cooking class.
After the declaration of the first drive to Lake Carezza The teams were divided into four groups, Distributed aprons and let loose on the pavilions. In any private court was cooked:
- Spaghetti with mozarella Tomaten
- Home-made ribbon pasta with game sauce
- South Tyrolean apple strudel pastry
- Speckknödel
We were assigned to the Department of the bacon dumplings. Matthias remained somewhat in the background, while I threw myself fully into the action. Curious passersby are interested and gave more or less meaningful or helpful comments from.
In the end, all cooked dishes themselves were eaten, of course supported by the restaurant, which betreutet the cooking class. But we felt after the second crammed. However, this feeling should be preserved for us by the way the rest of the tour. The restaurant served at the end still iced coffee.
After lunch we went back to the car to the first real tour for Carezza over the Val d'Ega and back. The first section for Carezza I drove, the there-starting uniformity ride then made Matthias. We went on the first day of the Nissan Leaf. A nice car, but the ride in it was just too short, to get to know him properly.
Having reached the top at Lake Carezza, already waited a few of the many helpers on us and had reserved a large area for us. The lake itself had a rather low water level. Course, but at the end of the summer.
A "ORF-press man" stood dumbfounded in front of a Opel Ampera and said with hilfesuchendem views, that his battery would be all, and he could not continue. He was told by Opel's press team that it was a "electric car".
I tried to calm the man, as I opened the hood of his silver Amperas him and the gasoline engine, together with the oil dipstick in addition to the thick, showed beaded power lines of the electric motor. When I executed shortly that he had a gasoline engine as a range extender on board, and starts immediately and supplies the batteries for the electric motor with power, be relaxed his features in the face. As punishment for my professional education he chose me in immediately for an interview with the ORF of.
Matthias could have stayed longer and went to the lake, but it did not go once 20 Minutes even further.
On the way back to Bolzano Matthias was the driver. It was the first points event, the task than an average speed of 38 km/h, demanded but we did not know how long is the distance. We have not performed particularly well, because we had once set the right tactics. The fact that the Leaf has a fairly accurate average speed display, we have unfortunately too late noticed. We were too slow, as we are beginning to behave and driven to very optimized consumption.
Back in Bolzano we parked back on the Walther Square, which the whole night was guarded by Carabinieri of, and went over to the hotel.
There, we retired to very fast, because only a few minutes later, we should in the lobby with the other meeting, it was evening, the manufacturer on our list.
The manufacturer evening was a panel discussion at the Museum of Contemporary Art with representatives of vehicle manufacturers, who had provided the vehicles for the rally are available. The questions to the representatives were to be written on the eve of the participants to list. Matthias his question came to the conclusion, she was nasty and so the final question: “You have 22.500 EUR. In which year will be an electric vehicle, the 500 km range has, can buy?” Most representatives were trying to be sent to pull out of the loop, but succeeded so really no. At the end they had to admit, that it depends on the battery technology, but one assumes with lithium-air batteries in the next 5-10 To make huge strides years.
For me, however, was also an important concern newly added:
An E-Car, which is designed for the city, does not need a battery for 500km, because rarely longer distances are driven than 150km. Since the municipalities are to be placed in the mandatory charging stations, pack alone is not the manufacturer. However, once projects are politicized, may be something to delay very long.
Before the discussion section but there was still a reception with initially four courses specialties from South Tyrol. It followed the discussion part, of up to about 21 Clock lasted. After the reception went on and the “Main courses” followed. Overall, there were 11 Transitions. Matthias has eventually adopted the foresight to bed, while I was explaining to me by a Opel technicians nor the technique of Amperas in detail.
This was the first real day. It felt like three days in a. It should go on.
