Electrical excesses! ADAC eRallye Prolog
|1: The application
During one of our regular meetings on Wednesdays I talked again with Matthias about the topic Electric Car, whereupon he pointed me to a small article in the ADAC motor world. It was about a "rally" with electric cars in the beautiful South Tyrol. One had "only" send a job application, like with video, and justify, why unless the appropriate team for.
After a few considerations it was clear, that a candidate video needs to be rotated, why we met with me at home and the Action Cam from Contour, chose because of the extreme wide angle as appropriate recording option. We even wrote a short application and sent the application on the last possible day, including the links to our videos on Youtube.
A few weeks later, we both had been completely lost sight of the project, came a nice e-mail with the message, that the ADAC our application would have liked and that our team was recruited for the eRallye.
The great anticipation more 2 Days before the start of an uncertain skepticism, as they sent us schedule and conduct of the eRallye. The days were jam-packed with appointments, Tasks, Visits, Koch course, Panel discussions and much more.
These uncertain skepticism was crowned by the inhuman early breakfast times. From then on I realized, that we will not just be for fun as.
2: The arrival and the first evening (Saturday)
Matthias came on Friday 21.09.2012 towards 12:00 Clock to my home, parked his Skoda in the garage and we drove diesel driven my car in the south. After a short visit to the adidas outlet store in Herzogenaurach, where I bought sensible walking shoes, we arrived in the evening to relax with my parents in Wattens. For dinner we went to a local inn called “Goldener Adler” vulgar “Stoager”. ((Goldener Adler)) It was delicious Styrian Backhendlsalat, which should take the culinary experience. Dessert was creme brulee and chestnut rice.
After we celebrated a big breakfast with my parents on Saturday morning,
we went very slowly on the road to Bolzano, where we distinguish between 14:00 and 16:00 Clock should arrive in the parking lot of Bolzano Exhibition Center.
Matthias had then short term nor the idea, purely to drive to Innsbruck and to visit the hunger Castle. We used to use the "U-Bahn", although starts underground, but then diagonally can drive up the slope. Mitschwenkende cabins ensure, that one can always remain horizontal. ((Hungerburgbahn))
After a short tour and panoramic views of the city and the Inn valley, we also drove again immediately tions Italy.
To 15.10 Clock we arrived finally in Bolzano at the exhibition parking at.
A helping hand in green jackets welcomed us and showed us the way on the parking deck where we waited for the shuttle service. These jackets should also be part of our team clothes for the upcoming week. The shuttle took us across Bolzano to Park-Hotel Laurin ((Hotel Laurin, Bolzano)), a venerable building, open 1904 at the time the K&K monarchy and still privately owned by the founding family Staffler. In the hotel you were well prepared for the participants. In the lobby we were greeted by Daniela, Alexandra und dem Orga-Team der SMG ((SMG Südtirol Marketing)) very friendly welcome. At the front desk we were promptly given our room key card to. The room is hard to put into words. It was huge. We had a couch, a chair, a huge bathroom with separate shower and whirlpool tub with lighting.
In the room a backpack for each participant waited marked with name tag and a bag with utensils, which should make our lives easier in the next few days.
When opening immediately swelled the green team jacket from the Italian sportswear company VIST ((VIST)) out, as we had seen them at the friendly pilots on the Messeparkplatz.
Dazu stone Poloshirts im Teamlook, Basecap in Leder-Look, a water bottle (Imprint “South Tyrol”, Made in Germany ;), diverse Magazine, the regulations and our most important companion for the next few days: Das Roadbook, which had been written in fabulous quality.
There was but little time to investigate the room fully comprehensive. Because we had to move us, it was followed by a reception in the garden of the hotel.
In the evening, in the terminal for receiving, The opening event was held. We learned the most important people behind the scenes know and could drag the order of the vehicles, with which we would be the next days on the road. On the first day we got the Nissan Leaf, then Opel Ampera, Peugeot iOn and the Smart. For the 5. Day we moved the Peugeot.
Was driving a multi-course menu of the young chef Manuel Astuto, one of the best chefs in Bolzano.
The menu:
- Greetings from the kitchen:
Creamy Resina beans in mint fragrance
with smoked fillet of char from the Eggen Valley
and long matured balsamic vinegar - Carnaroli Risotto with South Tyrolean Sekt,
Mountain herbs and fried shrimp glazed over from Mazara del Vallo - Sous Vide in Kalbswange gegart
with Bronte pistachio crumbs, of certain Kartoffelespuma, Bacon spice and Madeira jus - With cane sugar caramelized crème brûlée with the best from the forest
Accompanied by the perfectly matched wines:
- Pinot Bianco Riserva “Foothill” 2009 Kellerei Terlan
- Merlot-Cabernet “Rungg” 2010, Kellerei Tramin
Each individually for a powerful grenade, and high potential. Both wines were described to me again in more detail by Alexandra and let my olfactory nerves and taste buds scream with desire. I would have done this evening nothing better, as to give myself the noise of these senses, But the Damocles sword of breakfast floated already mercilessly on us and reminded us to a very short night and breakfast 06:30 Clock.
